Our Instructor of the Week is the lovely Vanessa Montoya! Nessa has over a decade of experience in Bellydance and the Healing Arts and is an Arhatic Yogi with Pranic Healing. Her adventures as a professional belly dancer include solo and company performances in both Los Angeles and Austin. Trained in the Classical Egyptian style of Oriental Dance, she also received her Yoga Instructor Certification through Mind Body Yoga in Austin, Texas and has combined modalities to create a class structure that explores the mind/body/heart connection. . . . Our Instructors of the Week are the beautiful women of Totem! Founded in 2012, Totem is a belly dance troupe in Central Texas that specialize in Fusion and American Tribal Style® belly dance. The group has performed repeatedly with the band, Stoneburner, and are often sought out for their alternative interpretations of modern belly dance. Totem will be teaching the following workshop this June: . ✦ The Gilded Edge: Costume Design and Construction✦ Sunday, June 30, 2019 | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM . Expand your costuming possibilities by creating a costume masterpiece using unusual materials such as leather and tapestry! Paula Grace, owner of Gilded Gypsy and assisted by members of Totem, will guide you with insider experience in leatherwork and costume design to conceptualize and construct a unique costume. All costuming skill levels are welcomed. You can bring your current costume project, sketching materials or purchase a base from Gilded Gypsy and learn how to personalize it. Paula will also discuss costuming considerations for body-type, skin tone, artistic message, stage lighting, sound, and movement. . Hannah Setu's Natural Nurturing Services will be vending at the Austin Belly Dance Convention this June! Hannah is a Massage Therapist, Massage Therapy Instructor and Reiki Practitioner and Animal Reiki Instructor based in Ft. Worth, Texas. Stacey Lizette is the ABDC's Instructor of the Week! Stacey is one of five Level 5 certified in the internationally recognized Suhaila Salimpour and Jamila Salimpour formats. She teaches weekly classes and periodic workshops and hosts annual Salimpour workshops in Austin. Stacey is the artistic director of Tekatek Dance Ensemble, (former) producer of the annual Austin Belly Dance Convention, traveling teaching assistant to Suhaila Salimpour, and annual workshop sponsor. . . .
